This poster, part of the amazing Tour de France Classics series, features the story of the 1949 Tour de France - the battle of Italian rivals "Gino the Pius" Bartali and Fausto Coppi. After an early crash that damaged his bike and left him 18 minutes behind, Coppi pursued Bartali and the other leaders with a vengeance, and finally caught the peloton in Stage 16. For the remainder of the race it was domination for the Italian duo, with Coppi outlasting his elder countryman to finish with the yellow jersey. This poster provides a great look at the men and their bikes, and the camaraderie that overcomes even the most bitter of rivals in times of exhaustion. It also gives you a spectacular classic sepia-toned black-and-white image from a legendary cycling moment for your wall!
