The Etape visits the Tourmalet 100 years after the first inclusion in the Tour de France in 1910.

“Assassins”. The solitary word that Frenchman Octave Lapize uttered through clenched teeth to the Tour de France organisation as he fought to conquer the high mountains of the Pyrenees for the very first time.

On little more than a goat track and a single speed bike, weighing twice that of a modern day machine, road conditions and technology have come along way since 1910 but one thing still remains - there’s absolutely no bluffing in the mountains.
Join Cyclefilm and sportive rider Michael Cotty for the 18th edition of L’Etape du Tour, and queen’s stage of the Tour de France, from Pau to Col du Tourmalet.

See the 174km route in its entirety as we climb the Col de Marie Blanque and beautifully serene Col du Soulor before teeing things up for the Tourmalet itself. Find out where to shelter form the wind, where to feed and what lies around the next hairpin. With over 4, 000 metres of climbing it’s by no means an easy ride.
